The Lunar Store

The lunar year is a memorable event that players look forward to every year, so it’s natural that the items obtainable would be treasured by players as exclusive collectibles. However, obtaining items from the previous seasons was impossible till now as the Rust item store now contains collectibles from the previous lunar years.

The infamous Chinese rocket launcher, Dragon door locker, Firework packs, and the New Year Gong are available for purchase.

New Primitive mode

Survival but backward! The new primitive mode is ready to launch on the 6th of February. The leaks and reveals suggest that the Rust dev team is preparing a game mode featuring low-tech weapons from the past for players to enjoy. Survival in the new season is going to be more rugged, requiring increased tactical awareness and strategy.

Upcoming weapons

Players are able to craft four unique weapons upon the launch of the mode: The catapult, battle ram, ballistas, and a crossbow.

In addition to the new items, certain high-powered weapons currently existing in the game will be removed in order to refine the balancing within the game.

Players can also ride a more well-defined horse as their main mode of transportation in the upcoming mode. The horse has been improved with better riding mechanics, stability, and improvements in order to make it an attractive choice for players.

Minor Fixes and additions

In addition to the major updates that are arriving with the lunar year, there are also some minor changes that are worth mentioning.

Tigers are being added to the new biome in development. The new jungle biome has sparked a massive interest amongst players who are desperate for a change of theme, and the developers are putting in the work! Tigers will be the first of many fauna added onto the new biome, with many hopeful for more animals to join in.

NPC improvements have been reported through testers with scientists and wolves being prioritized. We are currently unaware of the exact aspects of the change, but it’s along the lines of behavior and environment interaction.

Camera and UI improvements are on the way! Players can now utilize new camera controls to assist them in demo shots and scene management. Additionally, notable improvements in visibility and accessibility have been showcased through patch reveals.
