How to Get All Keycards in Rust: A Complete Guide
Rust’s post-apocalyptic survival gameplay often requires navigating through various monuments to find high-tier loot. Keycards are essential for unlocking doors at these monuments, and understanding how to acquire and use them is critical for efficient progression. In this guide, we’ll break down how to find every keycard in Rust: Green, Blue, and Red, and how to maximize their usage.
Understanding Keycards
Rust has three types of keycards, each granting access to progressively higher-tier loot rooms:
- Green Keycards: Entry-level, commonly found, and open basic loot rooms.
- Blue Keycards: Mid-tier, unlock better loot rooms but require some preparation.
- Red Keycards: High-tier, provide access to the most lucrative loot.
Where to Find Keycards
Green Keycards
Green Keycards are the easiest to acquire and can often be found at basic monuments. Look for structures like:
- Gas Stations: Inside the office or under a desk.
- Supermarkets: In the office or administrative area.
- Lighthouses: Near the base or inside containers.
- Junkyards: Found in the office building.
Pro Tip: Green keycards are sometimes guarded by low-level scientists or require minimal combat. Always carry a flashlight or torch to spot them in dark areas.
Blue Keycards
Blue Keycards require a Green Keycard and Electric Fuse to access certain areas. Locations to find Blue Keycards include:
- Satellite Dish: Use a Green Keycard to unlock the room and retrieve a Blue Keycard.
- Sewer Branch: Activate the fuse, swipe the Green Keycard, and loot the room for a Blue Keycard.
- Harbor (small and large): Insert a fuse, swipe the Green Keycard, and grab the Blue Keycard inside the designated room.
Pro Tip: Bring tools for repairing or accessing the electricity panels, as some locations require interaction with the fuse box before swiping.
Red Keycards
The most valuable keycards, Reds, require a Blue Keycard and typically more challenging monument exploration. Look for Red Keycards at:
- Airfield: Insert a fuse, swipe the Blue Keycard, and navigate through puzzles to retrieve the Red Keycard.
- Power Plant: Requires multiple fuses and a Blue Keycard to access the loot room.
- Train Yard: This monument is more complex; you’ll need a Blue Keycard, fuse, and careful planning to retrieve the Red Keycard.
- Water Treatment Plant: Similar to other Blue Keycard rooms, requires fuse and puzzle-solving.
Pro Tip: Red Keycard locations are often heavily guarded by scientists or other players. Go prepared with weapons, armor, and medical supplies.
How to Use Keycards
Once you’ve collected keycards, you’ll use them to open corresponding doors at various monuments:
- Find the Puzzle Room: Most locked rooms have puzzles requiring you to interact with fuses or switches.
- Swipe the Keycard: Use the appropriate card (Green, Blue, or Red) at the card reader near the locked door.
- Loot Efficiently: Red rooms have the highest value loot, including weapons, resources, and tech, so be sure to have enough inventory space.
Tips for Keycard Runs
- Prepare for PvP: Monuments are high-traffic zones where other players might ambush you.
- Bring Fuses: Always carry a few Electric Fuses as most puzzles require them.
- Travel Light: Ensure you have enough room to carry the valuable loot found behind keycard-locked doors.
- Scout First: Observe the monument for enemy players or NPC scientists before making a move.
- Team Up: Red Keycard monuments are safer to raid with a team, as they often have stronger enemies.
Conclusion
Keycards are a crucial part of Rust’s progression system, offering access to some of the best loot in the game. By mastering the locations and puzzle mechanics, you can efficiently gather Green, Blue, and Red Keycards to secure a significant advantage. Just remember to stay vigilant, as competition for these resources can be fierce. Happy looting!

Fastest ways to get scrap in rust
Want to get scrap as fast as possible and get ahead of your competition in you next wipe with our scrap guide
Scrap is the most important currency in Rust. with scrap you can purchase various products in the game such as resources, components and weapons. these are all side products in the game of rust and scrap is mostly used to unlock blueprints inside of the tech tree.
Without earning a lot of scrap fast you fall behind. This guide will show you everything you need to know to progress as fast as experienced players.
Fastest ways to get scrap in Rust.
The first method: Monuments.
Farming Scrap on moments is a quick and efficient way to do it and your best bet - but this comes with a high risk. these monuments are usually highly populated area's where a lot of players will come towards. we suggest checkout out our top 5 rust monuments guide to get yourself prepared. the rewards of doing monuments is certainly worth it and a quick way to make scrap. some of these monuments do require keycards to fully access and loot them.
its an easy process: head to the monument you want to farm and look for barrels and crates within the monument. once you have enough of these you need to head to the recycler and recycle the components into scrap.
Make sure to keep an eye out for certain components since they give different yields. especially gears, sheet metal and fuses are good to recycle since they give a lot of resources. you can also recycle these components in outpost however with the new game recycling components in monuments bring more yield then doing it in a safezone like outpost.

Method 2: Farming Road.
Farming Scrap on the road is not as good of a method to do since its nearly not as efficient and fast as farming monuments. usually it involves long running on the road and getting mostly barrels when crates yield the better components. scrap is not a thing you get a lot from farming road either but is gained from recycling the components. Because of this you would still have to risk going to a monument to recycle your components with the highest yield or go to outpost and recycle with a lower yield.
the comfortable thing about road farming is that you usually have it around your base. that way you can do quick and small runs that are perfect for the early game to gain some componenets to craft crossbows and nails guns. you also get scientist here that provide you with green keycards to be able to explore monuments further. make sure to check out our keycards guide.
Method 3: Horse Farming.
this approach is not as popular since it takes long to setup, but it is surprisingly one of the fastest ways to gain scrap. horse farming is done through keeping horses in their stable and farming their manure, this you can convert into fertilizer which then allows for you to trade it in at outpost.
it make take a little to setup especially for new players however its certainly a good strategy. you should start by building a base for your horses and making sure that they are all fed. Once they release their horse dung you can pick it up and put it into a composter to become fertilizer. after this is done you just head over to outpost and swap it for scrap which gives you a easy profit.
this method is possible due to the availability of vending machines in outpost which allow you to trade in fertilizer for scrap.
Scrap method 4: Scrap Tea
Do you even wonder what those mixing tables or good for? you can actually create very good tea's with one of them is the scrap tea, it allows you to get more scrap from barrels and is one of the better and more efficient way to farm scrap in rust.
there are multiple types of scrap teas. you got the basic scrap tea which gives you a 100% scrap yield for 30 minutes. then you have the advanced scrap tea which increases the yield by 225% for 45 minutes. And at last you have the pure scrap tea which gives you a 350% scrap boost for 1 hour.
Once drinking a scrap tea it will activate the effect and start the countdown of how long its active. you have to watch out though since when you die the effect will be gone. so make sure to avoid fighting at much as possible when having a active scrap tea. the whole goal is to farm scrap deposit and then do it again till your tea runs out. this will triple the scrap earnings you get from farming and is one of the fastest ways to get scrap in rust
Scrap method 5: Fishing
Fishing is the most peaceful way to earn scrap. sit yourself down in a fishing village safe zone and just throw out your fishing rod and have a peaceful time. some rust cheats even have automatic fishing bots which allow you to be away from your pc and continue to earn scrap my fishing.
When you have caught enough fish you can trade it in at the fishing village vending machine for scrap. With this method there is barely any risk of dying only when running to fishing village and back to base.
Fastest ways to get scrap in rust: Conclusion
Those are the best ways to get a lot of scrap fast. With the use of these methods you can have inventory's full of scrap in a short amount of time. you should keep in mind that that hard work can easily be stolen in rust and put in another players pocket.
